Weddings are a beautiful journey of emotions and stresses; often evolving, sometimes chaotic and always involving a deeply personal story that I am curious to document. For me, the best way to capture the story is to tell it as is. In all its honesty, with all its rawness. I won’t ask you to smile for the camera, I would rather capture the smile that blossoms on your face, when you see him looking at you. I would rather capture the delightful and exciting commotion that builds up to every single wedding celebration, than cleaning up the mess for a pretty tidy picture. Because the real beauty is in the honesty of it all.
I understand that having a camera pointed at your face for hours, can be somewhat uncomfortable. So I take it upon myself to figure out what’s most comfortable way for you on your big day. The art is in letting the real story unfold naturally, without orchestrating any moments or manufacturing still poses.
My name is Michael, a wedding photographer documenting stories in Banff, Calgary, Canmore, Jasper and beyond. I believe in being authentic, in being vulnerable and letting the chaos evolve so I can document your day honestly.
I think it’s best to describe my images as quiet little moments that capture the honesty and realness of a wedding day. I primarily shoot with available natural light to preserve the actual atmosphere of the day.
Connections to emotions are what makes a good photo a great one. The connections that friends and families have are what I live for. I think you’ll find my enthusiasm is evident in the quality of the photos I take.
The wedding industry is saturated with photographers and you have many amazing options to choose from. Regardless of whether I get invited on this journey or not, I am so grateful that my work has spoken to you enough to bring you here.
