5 Benefits of Using a Banff Wedding Photographer for Your Destination Wedding

Many people dream of a destination wedding, and it’s not surprising. Why wouldn’t you also want to spend the most special day in your life in the most special of locations? When it comes to choosing your destination, the world is your oyster, but I’d argue that Banff should be very near the top of your list. With that in mind, I’ve put together a list of five of the main benefits there are to using a Banff wedding photographer for the ultimate destination wedding.

1. The Views

I might as well start with the obvious. Banff is one of the world’s most naturally-stunning environments, and that’s no hyperbole. Many places lay claim to being the most beautiful, but few will genuinely match Banff when it comes to offering unspoiled, awe-inspiring landscapes.

The best wedding photography is about emotional storytelling, and it’s hard to argue there’s a more evocative backdrop for such a scene than with snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes and dense spruce and fir forests. It’s truly magical.

2. The Memories

The time around getting married is one of the most exciting (not to mention stressful) times in a couple’s life together. From sorting the guest list, to arranging the seating plan, to securing a venue, it’s a giddy mixture of chaos, anticipation and pure, unadulterated love for one another.

When you look back in years to come, however, what you’ll want to remember most isn’t the meticulous precision with which you and your partner planned everything, though, of course, that’s always impressive. No, it’s the passion and the promise of what was still yet to come, all captured in those longing gazes into one another’s eyes.

To enshrine such love, emotion and memory in a singular image is a challenge I love as a wedding photographer, more than anything else, and that magic comes altogether more easily when you’re in a place like Banff, which naturally lends itself to overflowing emotions. Think to yourself: do you want to look back on some “nice” photos in a generic studio, or do you want to truly take yourself back to somewhere altogether more special? I know which I’d prefer…

3. The Fun!

Banff is a fun place to just be – it’s hard not to have a great big smile on your face when you’ve got mountains all around you and what is, essentially, a great big outdoors playground at your disposal. I’ve talked to a lot of people in the past, who said their wedding photography experience felt more like a chore than it was an experience to enjoy.

Sorry, what?! How can that be proper or right? When I finished picking my jaw up off of the floor, I always explained to them that wedding photography should, first and foremost, be fun, and goofy laugh-out-loud, silly, great, big beaming grin kind-of-fun at that, too. I mean, a rocky mountain wedding? If that doesn’t conjure up the idea of ‘fun’, then I don’t know what would…

4. The Holiday…

If you’re having your wedding photography done, then you might as well make a trip of it - especially if you’re travelling a long distance. Fortunately for you, Banff is a pretty special place to take a break, even if just for a few days.

With hot springs, hiking trails, renowned restaurants and skiing resorts, it’s the perfect place to get away from the madness of the run-in to a wedding, no matter how brief the respite. A hike, a photoshoot, then a relax in a hot spring? Sounds pretty idyllic to me!

5. The Adventure

When people think of luxury destination weddings they tend to think of laid-back sun-loungers, and cocktails by the swimming pool. All very nice, but not very adventurous. And why shouldn’t a luxury destination wedding not also be brimming with adventure, too? After all, the two aren’t mutually exclusive!

We could all do with a little more adventure in our lives, if we're honest with ourselves, especially after being cooped up indoors for more or less the past two years. We spend more time these days staring at our screens than we do the world around us, and an adventure destination wedding can prove just the tonic for this modern malaise.

So, whether you’re looking to document a spontaneous adventure elopement, a fully-fleshed-out wedding, with all the bells and whistles, or anything in between, you can be guaranteed that this corner of Canada has exactly what you’re after, and much, much more.

Just don’t fall in love too much, you’ll still have to get the flight back home after all! It’s ok, though, because Banff will always be here for you to return to, to help relive those happy wedding memories.

Hopefully, having read this, you’ll have been convinced by the natural awe and splendour of Banff’s landscapes. From jaw-dropping vistas to beautiful bays, Banff has it all, and I’d love to be the photographer to document you there in the moment.
